Classifieds for merchants

Use your shop catalogue for anything you want to sell repeatedly through Parish Larder (with stock, payments, deliveries, receipts).

Use Classifieds for one-offs: a used display fridge, a job vacancy, a bag of seed potatoes you can't sell through your stock system.

You don't need a separate account — your merchant login can post Classifieds directly. Listings appear under your trading name, with a small "Verified merchant" tag, and a link back to your stall page.

• Keep titles plain — "BBPOS card reader, 2024" beats "AMAZING reader for sale!!"
• Photos do most of the selling — natural light, multiple angles.
• Bump your listing once a week if it goes quiet (the bump button appears after 7 days).

Replies land in your Parish Larder inbox under Account → Messages — no email addresses are exchanged, so you keep control until you choose to share details.

Answer straightforward questions promptly; a quick, honest reply about condition or age closes far more sales than a glossy title.

You can reply or ignore each enquiry. If someone pushes to move the conversation off-platform before you have agreed a sale, treat that as a red flag.

Classifieds are not paid through Parish Larder — there is no Stripe checkout, escrow or commission on a Classified. You arrange payment directly with the buyer, so protect yourself:

• Cash on collection is simplest for local, lower-value items.
• For bank transfer, confirm the money has actually cleared in your account before the item leaves your hands — a "pending" or "processing" transfer is not cleared.
• Never accept gift cards, vouchers, or "I'll overpay and you refund the difference" arrangements — these are the classic scams.

If you want card payments, stock control and buyer protection, sell the item through your stall instead, or use Find a Handyman for jobs (which is paid into escrow).

Once it is sold, delete the listing or mark it sold from Account → Classifieds so buyers stop messaging you.

Listings expire after 30 days. Renew to reset the clock if the item is still available, or bump to lift it back to the top after a quiet spell.
